La Lechuza agroecological farm

La Lechuza agroecological farm

La Lechuza is an agroecological farm located in the municipality of General Alvear 7 km from the city of Oberá. They are a Swiss-Argentine family, who have been working on the farm since 2011 with the aim of creating an ecological production space that respects the cycles and spaces of our land.

A farm is not just a place to produce food and products. La Lechuza works to go beyond production. For them it is important that people interested in agroecology can learn through direct experience, how organic farming works and the reasons that drive them to make it, their way of life and livelihood.

In La Lechuza they have a diversity of agricultural production and activities, they are open as an agroecological social center so that those interested can learn, enjoy and live a comprehensive experience.

Agrotourism is an important pillar in their functions and they consider that it is the best way to spread their example of sustainable living. Among all, they offer the Farm School program with an educational visit to school and university groups. They also develop the Country Day / Afternoon program where families or groups of friends can enjoy a guided tour, free time, lunch or a snack.

They complete the agenda with various calls for courses, workshops and conferences on topics always related to organic farming, food and healthy living practices.

The proposal of the farm is one of life open to the entire community, so that the ties between the city and the countryside are retaken on the path of healthy food production and the recovery of the wild.

In addition, they elaborate and produce their raw materials on the farm and from some friendly farms that also produce organically and ecologically. With their fruits and vegetables they make healthy and delicious sweets and jams. They also produce different types of pickled vegetables, mushrooms or meat, whole grain breads made with seeds such as whole wheat or flax seeds from these friendly farms.
